Thursday, I went to see Ashlyn and Stephanie at Mauldin Middle. Ashlyn was busy checking homework and giving a quiz. (which she subsequently had to grade). She looks like a natural in the classroom. Meanwhile, Stephanie was going over homework with her class - working out math problems by request. GREAT JOB!

This week I was reminded how the minds of second graders work. There is a little boy in my class, Blake, who is convinced that I don't drive and take a bus back to our school everyday when I leave his class. Then on St. Patrick's Day I forgot to wear green and I was pinched by three girls in my class, Lilly, Abbie, and Tristen. They're all so adorable and I'm glad I get to work with them :)

This week I fell in love with Ms. Marydell's class at Hope Academy even more. Every single kid in there is so bright, unique, and so darn funny. They are so loving. My favorite experience this week was on Thursday. They have music class every Thursday morning and I got to participate. They were learning the "Miss Mary Mac" handshake and I used to ALWAYS do that when I was younger. It brought back good memories and also made me make more:)

Each week I am growing closer and closer to the students in my class! It makes me smile so much when the kids will come and give me a hug when I walk in each day. I love working in my small groups everyday. On St. Patricks day I worked with the kids on adding by using the marshmellows from a box of lucky charms!

This week I was so excited to get to go on a field trip to Roper Mountain with Ms. Quinn's class. We learned about dental hygiene and visited the planetarium. Jeremiah volunteered to play the role of the dentist which as you can imagine was very entertaining. It was also very exciting to have all of you come to Ms. Quinn's room to surprise her on her birthday! I cannot wait for another week with all of the 1st graders!

This week went very well over all! I became more engaged with the students and really enjoyed it. I'm beginning to learn their personalities and which ones have difficulties. For example, there is one boy who has a really bad stuttering problem and I've figured out that if you ask him a question he doesn't stutter but if he asks you something then He will stutter. I think he just gets really nervous. I can't wait to start really teaching. Happy spring!!

This week was another great week in Ms.Owen's class. We had all of our morning discussions at the table and we put up the flags. The kids are becoming professionals at putting those up. On St. Patrick's Day we had a party with all green foods like kiwi, green pudding, green grapes, sun drop, green hawiian punch and skittles for the rainbow and gold coin cookies. They are such awesome kids! I love being part of such an incredible class. -Chelsey
It amazes me how I have only known these kids for 10 days and they already seem like little brothers and sisters. The respect and admiration they seem to have for any older than them surprises me. On St. Patricks day, my teacher and I planned out where I would claim to have seen a Leprechaun in the parking lot on my way in to their school and while they were at related arts we would vandalize the room to make it seem like the Leprechauns paid them a visit. I bought them green cookies and wrote a poem on the board it was really fun! and their reactions seemed to be priceless.

This week was great with my class! My favorite thing this week had to be getting to see how independent the students are in the class. I got to sit on a student led review on a book they were reading over the week and I enjoyed getting to hear their thoughts on what they read and was impressed how deep they were able to get into meaning.

This past week in second grade we continued to work on our measuring skills. They are using rulers, making estimates, and counting how many square units make up a shape. When they found out that by counting squares they were finding area, and therefore doing multiplication an audible gasp went up in the room. It was too cute! They are so excited to be learning "big kid" math techniques like multiplication!

This week was really exciting. I got to work more with the kids and gained more responsibility. Some kids lost their teeth and shared their tooth story. EJ informed me that you don't need to share a tooth story if you lose your tooth at school. All my little friends get really excited when I walk inside the room in the morning. I am officially loving field experience!

I've started to get into a routine with my class. Each day I come in and observe for a few minutes then work with small groups in the back. I really look forward to my time in Mrs. Murphy's class each day!

I just love my class! Everyday the kids are excited to see me. They are always showing me their work and waving. I corrected their work and have learned most of thier names. I never want to leave the class so I always just make it back to school on time.

I have definitely formed a routine after these first few weeks. I go in and I immediately am welcomed with warm hugs and smiling faces! SOO SWEET and then right away I start helping my little kindergarteners with their morning work. We've been learning to spell out words that have the same ending such as -at words like bat, cat, pat, hat. They get soo excited when they know they have spelt the word correctly!

This week was good but, im just really ready to start doing more things in the classroom. The students were working on the finishing touches to a project so it was just funny to see how i used to do the same type of projects and think the infoormation was so difficult to learn. -Surena
I love my teacher so much! She is so great and has already helped me so much! This week i got to work more with my kids as a whole classroom and also one on one (which I love). The highlight of my week definitely had to be making pancakes with my class after reading "When You Give a Pig a Pancake"! It was so much fun. It always makes my day when i'm leaving and my teacher and class all thank me for helping them and to have a great day!

I'm teaching my class now and everyone is warming up to me. I fertile I can relate to them which helps when I'm trying to explain things. I also got to grade tests and it was interesting to compare how the students act in class and how they perform on tests. I was so proud of the class. They all did really well on what I had taught! It was a great confirmation that they were actually learning! ! !
