On Monday, I popped into Mrs. Shea's room to find her and Buffy working hard to grade papers and enter scores.
On Tuesday, I popped in at Bethel and found Ellie hard at work with a small group of second graders. The fifth grade was involved in MAP testing, so Chandler lent a helping hand with the smaller ones.
Over in the first grade hall, I found Lorelle hard at work teaching a lesson on telling time with a small group of students. They responded so well to her.
Thursday brought me back to Bethel where I found Chandler reviewing area and perimeter with her fifth graders.
I discovered Zac in the first grade hall hanging up student work outside of his classroom - Oh the fun stuff!!!
Meanwhile, I found Kelsey, Jordan and Hannah administering spelling tests to their third grade classes.
Great job everyone!

This week, I spent most of the week just grading papers, but on Friday, I actually got to teach! I started on the introduction to Of Mice and Men. It didn't go as well as I was hoping because I'm not completely comfortable yet with being in front of the classroom, but it was only my first day, so I know that it can only get better from here!
I had edited a powerpoint and Mrs. Shea told me to make sure that nothing about the ending of the book was given away and when I was going through the slides on Friday with my class, I realized that I skipped this one part that clearly stated the ending of the book. Whoops. I'm just praying that my students didn't notice!
I'm just really looking forward to next week and getting better at teaching!

My best experience this week actually was a tie.I got to work with one of my students who is in resource and has ADHD. We had a lot of fun learning about coordinate grids and number lines and I found ways to keep him focused on math!! I also got to give a spelling test this week which was awesome!
My worst experience this week was on Thursday. I was really tired and then I had to grade three sets of worksheets all with no answer key. It wouldn't have been so bad though if I hadn't been so tired.
Comment at Buffy-
I'm sure your students didn't notice but if they did I wouldn't worry too much about it!You did an awesome job teaching anyway, I'm sure of it!

My favorite experience during this week was Tuesday, we went to Roper Mountain. It was a blast! I really got to know the kids better and already feel like I'm starting to build those relationships with them. I also was able to get lots of awesome pictures which will make putting together my portfolio more fun! haha. We learned about animal adaptations and the life cycle of living things. It was neat to see all the kids interact with all the animals and have a great time with it, they were so excited!
I'm happy to say that I didn't have a bad experince this week, however, the worst part of this week was Friday because it meant I wouldn't be able to see those kids until Monday. :( I love this class!
Buffy, I think you are amazing to do High School. I know I wouldn't be able to and I'm very proud of you. I'm sure they didn't notice and you will get better. It takes time. My students are better at subtracting than I am because I use a calculator for simple math. haha But it'll just take time and practice. Good luck!

My favorite experience this week was working with the individual groups with 3d shapes, and teaching them all about each shape and helping them make them with gum drops and toothpicks, then working to build houses and churches. It was great helping them develop talents like sharing with other kids and talking ideas out to create something bigger and better. Its fun using architectural skills and helping kids create strong structures!
This week was a crazy week. My kids had PASS testing for 2 days so I was out of the room for that, and then Friday I wasn't at school. :( My favorite thing about this week was helping the little babies in Mrs. Ellis' class. It was a sweet change from the 5th grade hormones. I didn't have any "worst experiences" this week. The kids were worn out from all their testing so there was little disruption.

Buffy - I'm sure they didn't notice! You are so fun and I bet the students love when you get up and teach!!
Kate - I'm sorry you had to grade all those worksheets. Grading is no fun! :(
Buffy-That's awesome that you're already teaching and getting infront of the class! I'm sure it'll get easier and easier to teach the more you get to know the students and the more experience you have!
This week my favorite thing that I did was called Running Records. Each student would read a short story out loud to me and I would mark when they would mispronounce or not know a word. I also marked how far along in the story they were when 1 minute passed. It was so incredibly interesting. It helped me get to know the students really well on the academic side of things. Some of them flew through the story and then others had a really hard time with it. I can definitely see why this is helpful to Mrs.Ellis becuase with those scores she can see which students she really needs to focus in on more in reading.
Overall this week was good! Looking forward to yet another good week! :)

the best part of this week was on Friday one of my students asked me to come back after I hit out of school to come celebrate her birthday so I made a deal that if no one had to move down to red (kinda like flipping cards) that I would. luckily no one had to move down so I got to enjoy some pretty amazing cake :) and if course spend time with my wonderful class.
the worst part was that one of the students, samauria, asked me what was on my foot (my tattoo) I didn't know how to answer her honestly. I didn't want her going home and asking her parents if she could get one and I also didn't want to say someone wrote on me cause then she would. awkward moment lol.
buffy- I'm sure you're an amazing teacher, don't stress over it :).
Hannah-I'm glad you had fun on your field trip! I get to go on one soon!
I miss all of you!
Buffy- Don't worry...I can't imagine what's going to happen when I teach.
Chandler- You are going to be such a good teacher!!! I can tell by your pictures haha!
Ellie- That sounds really cool.
My week was kind of boring. I graded a lot of papers and the class watched a WWll video. My favorite part was listening to Mr. Dodgens talk about when Hitler invaded Poland because he made it sound like a story and not like you were just taking notes. I feel like that's what learning is suppose to be. It made me nervous for when I teach though because I don't know if I can do that. I haven't had a bad experience so far. I am really enjoying learning about students quirks.

This past week I was out Monday and Tuesday due to the flu :(
But my best experience over my "shortened week" was on friday when I got to go over the notes on the Mayans with the kids. It was really fun, and I was able to get to know the kids better.
My least favorite was having to grade papers... I never realized how many papers teachers have to grade and how boring it gets after the second stack.

Buffy: That sounds awesome! I'm sure you are doing a great job teaching, and will get even better by the end of the experience.
Hannah: I'm so jealous you got to go on a field trip to Roper Mountain and pet the animals! It sounds like it was a lot of fun!!
My best experience this week would probably be walking around the school putting up posters for the book fair with a service learning student, joseph, OR officially meeting Mrs. Robertson's class!
My worst experience would probably be one of the days I didnt do much. Since there's map testing the library can get boring some days but I still enjoy it.
Paige- I agree, I think that's how learning is supposed to be too. And I think with your experience with dodgens you'll pick up on tricks and get the hang of it and do great!
Buffy - oops! Haha they probably didn't notice.. But I'm sure you did fine! A lot better than I would have done, or I guess will do my first time teaching a class haha.
Miss all of you!! :)

This week I had a lot of fun learning about my class through a worksheet me and Jordan made up called All About Me. It was a lot of fun learning about each other. Also I had fun giving out the spelling test. I love my class!!!
-Kelsey:)
This week Mrs. Hutto told me that I could do calendar and I was super excited! I was so nervous, but Noah (the teacher's assistant) helped me out and he was sooo cute:) Teaching calendar was so much fun. My favorite experience that happened this week was when Mrs. Turner came and got to see me do calendar for the second time.
Buffy: your a great teacher! I wouldn't worry about it, it was your first time and think of it this way at least they know the ending:)
-Courtney Ederer
I've had a great week too! From the first day I was involved in passing out papers, writing assignments on the board and helping out with any problems the kids might have had. There is only one student who is very social so sometimes it's hard for not only the other students to focus, but it was hard to keep our patience:/ A couple of funny things happened:) I saw 2 students from the class I'm in, and when they came up to the counter, they were both "Hi Ms. Weaver!" And their parents had these confused faces and we explained all about the teacher cadets:) The parents faces were pretty hilarious! But other than that, I loved being able to use all those math skills I gained and be able to share them to help students understand:D
~elizabeth
Buffy- I bet you were amazing though:3 Hahaha, do they call you Ms. Silver in the halls when you pass by;)??
Kate- That is awesome!! I'm sorry that you were so tired that one day:/
Hope everyone has a great week!
Best experience was when I walked in Friday and two of my students came running up to me saying Miss Lorelle Miss Lorelle! and hugged me and held my hand all the way back to class it was so rewarding!
Week of March 26- 30
This week I mostly got ready to teach my lesson. I am getting together notes and videos for my class. Nothing exciting really happened this week. Mostly just taking notes, observing Mr. Dodgens, and talking to the kids. Hope everyone is having a fun spring break!
Courtney- Calendar time sounds like fun!
So this week was a really tough personal week, it seemed like it was one thing after another. But walking into that classroom and seeing how excited those kids were that we were there and how upset they were to see us leave just made me so happy! I love my class so much! :)
