Field Experience Week 4

Hi Everyone!

It's spring break! Rest, and enjoy your time off, but don't forget to keep up with your journals and your portfolio for field experience. Also, don't forget to come back to MHS on April 12th. Your final paper for Anderson is due. I want to extend the due date to the 13th. I'll explain more in class.

Okay - this week, I went to Mauldin Middle, Oakview Elementary and Sara Collins Elementary. I am soooooo proud of the work you all are doing:

Tiffany taught a mini lesson on imagery using the senses. She gave her 7th grade students Hershey kisses and had them to write a few sensory sentences about them.

In Mrs Sanders' 7th grade social studies class, Natalie is working with small groups of students helping them to complete research on World War II.

Meanwhile, over at Oakview Elementary, Casey is working with a kindergarten class. I found her putting bags of jelly beans together for an Easter activity.

Down the hall, Katy is working with Mrs. Szymanska's first grade class. They were studying science, and sang a wonderful song for us. "The sun is a mass of incandescent gas......" Very impressive!!!! I saw Katy lead the kids through Calendar Math. Great job!

Aliyah is working with Mrs. Peay's class. She also has a student teacher. What a great opportunity for all.

Over on the third grade all, I found Miss Meghan and her precious class. We took a class picture, and played the "smile if you love Miss Meghan" game. These students absolutely adore her!
Later in the week, I traveled over to Sara Collins to watch Andrea teach Spanish to Mrs Wilkes class. WOW!!!! I am so impressed with what is going on in that classroom. KUDOS to all of you!
Click on "Comments" below and share your BEST and worst experiences this past week. Enjoy your break. I'll see you when you return! - Mrs T.

I had a really fun week in my class. While the class was starting to work on their research papers, I was able to put up all their mini posters they call "glogsters" on the wall so no one was left out. I didn't really have a bad thing that happened this week but the best thing that happened this week was that I was able to start helping out the students with research questions. One even came up and asked me to read what she had and to give her my opinion. It really made me feel like a teacher!! I can't wait till after spring break because I'll be doing my lesson then on the 1920's before they start their next book.

Thats so cool Chelsea. I'll be doing my lesson after spring break to. I dont have a set date yet though :(. My week was fun to. the whole week the kids were getting ready for easter. My favorite part was friday. Mrs. Puckett had to go to a meeting so I got to teach the whole class, Mrs. Brown helped me of course. But it was so much fun. I did the calendar and message with them like they do every morning. I even did and song/dance with them. It was so much fun. I hated when I had to leave. I didn't really have a bad experience

That sounds like fun Lisa. I always liked to do the little activities before a holiday when I was little. I bet the students really liked that. And, I bet it was fun to teach the whole class by yourself.

Hey guys, hope everyone's spring break was awesome! My week at Oakview was pretty good. I go over the early work with the kids every day and sometimes the homework. The best part of my week was when Mrs. Turner came in to my class. We took a picture with the whole class and Mrs. T. said "smile as big as you love Miss Meghan!" Those kids are adorable :). I don't think I had a bad experience this week.

Hey everyone! This week was really good. My best experience was on Friday with Science Fun Day. My class did an experient to see which liquid (water with food coloring, salt water, corn starch and vinegar) the egg would float in. It was so cute plus my prediction (salt water) right. I didn't have a worst experience this week!

Megan that sounds like a lot of fun! I wish i could have been a part of science day! Sorry this blog is so dang late!!! Anyways my week before spring break was pretty good. The worst thing that happened was that i didn't get to really do anything this week because we were finishing a book and getting ready to move into the Victorian era. The best thing that happened was that on Friday we had game day. We watched the Lion king and got to play board games the whole class!!! It was awesome:)

I also feel awful about posting late! I guess I just forgot with Spring Break.

I went on a field trip with my seventh graders on Friday the 26th. I really enjoyed the food during the etiquette lunch, but the play we saw was terrible! Definitely a good bonding time with my teacher and students in the class. We could barely sit still! Afterward, I went back to the school and graded composition notebooks of their poems. A few of the guys had written about my little sister! It was cute. It was fun to talk with Mrs. Richardson's homeroom students, many of which I know from first period, and I was excited to approve their friend requests on Facebook! lol.

Oh, and Chelsea... I love reading my kids' work and giving them my approval, too. :)

I'm not real sure where to post this so I'll do it on week 4, because I could not find week 5 ha. Well I had a wonderful week at my site! I taught my lesson to my class, and I felt it went wonderfully. And instead of just teaching it to one class, I stayed all day and taught all 6 classes! It was def the best part of my week, and it was amazing. The worst part was that I was soooo tired from teaching all day, but it was a blast. It was like my teacher wasn't even there all day!

Last week was fun. I came back to a classroom that looked completely different..well only the seating arrangements..it was harder to remember everyone's names because i associated their face to where they sat..but i got it down by the end of the week! There wasn't much this week to do..I helped Mrs. Pea some more this week by filing papers, and cutting shapes for crafts, but I havent been able to more than that. I'm looking forward to the day that I get to experience a full day because then I get to see so much more!

Sorry I’m posting sooo late but I just realized I never posted on week four’s blog! But anyway, I had a great week! On Friday, Jamie and Adam were chosen from Miss. Quinn’s class to be “Terrific Kids.” That day was a lot of fun because I got to meet Jamie’s older sister and mom! They all look similar! I didn’t really have a bad experience but grading papers does get boring! And Kirsten, teaching the whole day sounds like a challenge! –Shay Davis
