Field Experience Week 3

Hi Everyone!

We have now finished three weeks of field experience, and I'm seeing lots of WONDERFUL things! Don't forget to turn in your service hours and educational articles for the quarter. ALSO - you should be interviewing teachers for your final paper for Anderson University. Don't forget that it is due on April 12th - when you return from Spring Break! You will come to Mauldin High that day!!!
This week, I visited Bethel and Mauldin Elementary School!! Over at Bethel, Chelsea E works in the coolest room! She is in a first grade class with Ms McKee. Those kids adore her!
I also watched Kayla teach Mrs. Betsil's kindergarten class. She did a GREAT job with calendar math and the morning routine...a natural teacher!
Over at Mauldin Elementary, I saw Miss Nisha working with Mrs. Rainey's students and Lisa was hard at work cutting out materials for Mrs. Puckett's kindergarten class.

Megan is teaching away in Mrs. Lichoulas's room while Shay and Lorena are hard at work in Miss Quinn's class.

Hey
This is Natalie
I am not sure if we are supposed to comment about our week this week, but i figured i would anyway. I had some good experiences this week with my students. I enjoyed mostly taking attendance and remembering almost everyone’s names. (It was a big accomplishment). I am getting ready to go on a field trip with the students, which we are all excited about. My only negative experience was when a teacher asked me where I was going, like I was a middle-schooler at the school. It was funny. I can’t wait to keep learning new things and spending time in the class. Hope all is well.

I had a blast this week. Wednesday was probably my best day. They made little leprechaun hats and most of them were wearing green, and had on the cutest little shirts and outfits. Mrs. Puckett had a “leprechaun trap” set out to try and catch a leprechaun. And instead of doing a message today, she designed a “leprechaun trap” and had the kids help her come up with ideas of how to make it. Then she had the kids go design their own and when they finished they got to share them. Mrs. Puckett had to put on special glasses so she could see their traps. She called them her “magic glasses” because she couldn’t see the traps without them. It was such a fun day. And i didn't really have a bad experience this week. Brandon has become very attached to me. He is always trying to hang on me. But I don't mind it. I think it's kinda sweet.

I always almost forget to do this! This week was prettyfun, but also a bit hectic. On Tuesday I had to go in the afternoon instead of morning, so Cameron wasn't there. That's probably my worst experience! My best... I can't really call anything my best. I guess a good part was me really realizing how much I love working one-on-one with the kids. I'm starting to think of what my lesson is going to be. I just wish I could be there all day everyday! :) It's really fun to relearn fourth and fifth grade. This review is probably good for me! haha

Hey guys!
I had another great week! On thursday I got to spend my first full day at Oakview! It was amazing. I got to observe all that happens in the fast paced life of a first grade teacher, so much to do! While the kids played at recess, I got to talk to some other teachers at the school who encouraged me to obtain my Master's Degree as well as my Bacherlor's. A student teacher told me it was difficult to find a job as a teacher these days, but she told me that it was totally worth it if you love it. As far as a bad experience for me, there was one day where a few of the kids were a little rowdier than normal so there was some card flipping. :( But this week was wonderful!!

Hey guys!
My week was awesome! I got to spend my first full day at Oakview on Thursday! I got to observe a day as a first grade teacher, so busy! It was really hectic but I absolutely loved it. As far as a bad experience goes, on Tuesday some of the kids were a little rowdier than normal so some cards were flipped :( but other than that it was a great week!

The worst part of my week was probably grading papers while they were testing. It was so boring! But I guess that's part of being a teacher. I didn't really have a best experience, I got to talk to them about imagery and I'm doing an activity with them on Tuesday that I'm excited about.

I love working with first graders so much! It’s a lot of fun! My best experiences, ( I had two), were on Monday, Lorena and I got to come back to Mauldin Elementary for Mrs. Quinn’s birthday party! The kids had ice cream, cookies and kool-aid jammers and they finally got to sign Mrs.Quinn’s cast. My other great experience was on Wednesday, when Lorena and I did a St. Patrick’s Day activity with the kids and Lorena brought a really funny green hat and the kids passed it around and we took pictures. It was so much fun! I don’t think I really had a bad experience but one thing that kind of shocked me was when Jade got in trouble with Mrs.Quinn for saying that Ally “liked” Chandler (the newest kid in the class.) Mrs. Quinn made it clear that she was dissapointed in Jade and it was a very sad moment to watch. But besides that, my week went well. I agree with Tiffany, that grading can be really boring.

Hey everyone!!!
I love my field experience. The best part of my week was going on the field trip with my class to Roper Mountain Science Center. It was a blast. We learned about plants and the rain forest and we learned about planets in the planetarium. I love my class so much. The worst part of my week was just that I missed 2 days because I had a doctor's appointment and we visited our pen pals. Can't wait for this week!!!!

Hey everyone!
I had a pretty good week I guess. The worst part was on Wednesday when the kids had PASS testing and I wasn't supposed to come, but my teacher had no way of letting me know because I was sick and didn't go the day before. I wasn't even allowed on the third grade hallway and I couldn't leave because my ride, Casey, was still allowed in the school. So I sat in the library the whole time and used the time to catch up on my journals. I guess that was a good thing though because I let myself get wayyyy far behind on those. Another thing I didn't like this week was a couple of the days I really was not in a good mood and not in the mood to be bubbly and happy with the kids haha... and I only had to go over the early work for about 5 minutes. I don't know how you get through the whole day on days like these Mrs. Turner. Hope everyone is doing great!!

this week was pretty good for me Philip Putnam!! The best part was that it was my birthday on thursday so that just made everything better!! But for class one day half the class was out so Mrs. Fuller had to change up lesson plans because she couldn't do notes with only half the class so we ended up watching a video on 30 Days. and i kinda got a crick in my kneck from looking at the tv. from where i sit at i bend my head really weird to see the tv and it ended up hurting by the end of the day. oh and Mrs Quinns bday was that week too!! awesome!

this week was pretty good. I did a lot of cutting out again. It was really fun seeing all the kids get excited about St. Patricks day and wanting to catch a leperchaun. On Thursday they had gold in their cubbies and they were all so excited.

Kathryn, that sounds like a lot of fun working one on one with a student. Last week was really cool. The best thing that happened was that the class got to work on a fun research game in the media center to get them ready to work on the research paper. Once again there wasn't anything really bad that happened.I was able to finish decorating the bulletin board outside Mrs. Shea's class.

What's up class, This is Joseph. Kinda weird not sitting back in the corner and hanging out with you guys in class anymore. This week was very busy and interesting. I taught my lesson on adjective pronouns and nominalization. That was probably the best part of the week. I taught it on Friday, and the class was very accepting to me listened, and I had no problems. I really like being there and teaching but also learning from what Mrs. Larrain teaches. It's really the true definition of student-teacher. My worst experience was not in the classroom but was the preparation for my lesson. There was alot of information that I had to put together and then put on promethean slides. I had to make sure I didnt forget anything and that I had it all on Friday when I was ready to present. Just imaging having to do that every day for a new lesson or like twice a week at that is alot of work. This gives me a new-found respect for the amount of time and hard work that teachers put into their jobs. Yall need a payraise. No lie. haha
Ten un buen día

Natalie, I've been waiting for the day when a teacher thinks I'm a middle schooler... haha.

This past week, I was only at my site twice because of PASS testing. I don't know if I necessarily have a best or worst experience, but I've really enjoyed getting to know the students. I feel like by Friday's field trip, I'll definitely be "in with" the group. I can't wait to teach my lesson! :)

Hey everyone!
My best part of the week was having everyone's names memorized. High school freshmen have so much more respect for you when you actually know how to address them. I didn't really have a worst this week I'm enjoying getting into the swing of things with my class. Next week I'm going to begin helping with some of the bigger lessons. I'm nervous, but also really excited!
