Field Experience Week 1

Hi Everyone! All of the cadets are out in their first week of Field Experience. I had the privilege of seeing Johnakin teach .....hmmm....math stuff. Since I haven't seen tangent, cotangent, secent and cosecent in 20 years, I was, well, a little rusty in class. It was a review! - BINGO!!! I had a BLAST! I only got 4 questions right, but hey - that's pretty good for missing the actual teaching part! Excellent work!

So, I also visited Chelsea S. She was grading a HUGE amount of papers, and Mrs. Shea said she is a great worker! I popped my head in on Kenzi and Philip. Their classes were watching movies, so I moved along. I'm looking forward to seeing more next week! Keep up the good work!

The best experience I had this week was to be able to meet all the students and to actually grade short answer tests.I didn't have just one right answer they could've written about. There really wasn't a bad thing about this week. The only experience I had that got slightly annoying was the tornado drill we had on Thursday. But other than that I can't wait until next week!!

My best experience was my one-on-one interaction with the students. I felt like some of them were really starting to understand how to do the work! I didn't have a bad experience but like Chelsea, the tornado drill annoyed me too!

My best experience was getting to do a warm-up lesson with my students. I had them write poetry about what they liked to do best so I could get to know them. I felt like a real teacher as I was attempting to get them back on track.
My worst experience was probably when my teacher was late and I wasn't sure that she was coming on my first day, but she did and everything worked out well.
I'm having so much fun with my students and learning so much.

my best experience was cooking pancakes for the class since they were reading If You Give a Pig a Pancake! the worst thing was not getting to go on wednesday cause of the two hour delay. :( i also got to read to my class which was really fun! Tiffany i'm so glad your keeping those troubled middle schoolers focused!

This week has been so much fun! The best thing all week was interacting with the kids on Dr. Seuss Day. Everyone was dressed up as his/her favorite character and acted like their character. I joined in on the fun as well! I really did not have a been experience this week, instead I was faced with trying to learn over 80 names, since I have a different spanish class everyday. I'm really excited about the coming weeks, and all the exciting activities that Mrs. Wilks has planned for the kids. =]

This is Natalie Terlitsky and I have been in Mrs. Sanders 7th grade Social Studies class. I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience so far. One of my favorite experiences was to share with the homeroom and 1st period classes a PowerPoint to introduce myself. After the PowerPoint I gave out a piece of candy to anyone who could remember something from the presentation. I had them tell me their name before I gave them their prize and it was really exciting to meet them and begin to get to know them better. So far my negative experience is not having time for more positive experiences. I wish I could stay with my class for the whole period because they are a great class and so far really have been welcoming me into their class.

This week was interesting since I am in a class with people my age and most of them know me but my best experience was actally outside of the classroom when one of the students in our other class asked me for help with the homework. It showed me that at least one person was taking me seriously and believed I knew what I was talking about. The worst part was having the two hour delay because that meant all the plans had to be pushed back. I wish that high school had dress up days like Andrea's class but that would defeat the purpose of the whole growing up thing huh?

My best experience this week was meeting a boy named Cole, who has autism and knows four languages just by watching movies in each language! My worse experience was having to work with another child, who also has autism, who argued with me about the definition of role models, instinct, and who brought deer horns and hide to school. Supposedly if he gets too mad he gets really physical--it's really scary. But overall, it was fun and I'm learning more about the level I really want to teach at.

The best experience I had this week was doing the calendar with the students in the morning. So much fun seeing them get involved early in the morning. The bad experience i had was trying to remember everyone's name. This year the students have interesting names in my class, so its very challenging to remember all of them.

My best experience had to have been going to chapel on Friday at Southside Christian. It was a very different experience and I'm starting to better understand how different a Christian school really is (I was really surprised the first day when they prayed in the middle of class). My worst experience happened when my teacher was out during a test in French I. The CD player broke before they could start the listening part and it just seemed like nothing could go right.

The best experience I had this week was on Monday I think. I was filing papers and this little first grader named Selina was trying to put a paper in one of the top cubies and she couldn't reach so I helped her and out of the blue she gave me a hug. It was so cute. Then later in the week she put me on her "Best Friends" page. My worst experience this week was on Friday. This little boy was lighting matches in his desk, yes a first grader lighting matches. He claimed one of the other boys gave them to him so they were both removed from class and I don't know exactly what's going to happen to either of them. It was definitely a scary experience. Overall I had a wonderful week and I can't wait to go back!!!

The best experience I had this week was getting all the hugs and getting close to the kids. It's been so much fun. There wasn't really anything bad about this week. The only thing I can think of is when I went on that field trip with them Friday. Two little boys actually about got into a fight. I ended up having to pull them apart untill another teacher got to them. I was the closest one at the moment, but other then that my week was fun.

I am really starting to like my seventh grade GT Lit. / Lang. class! I fit right in! I was relieved when Mrs. Richardson gave me a butt load to do on the first few days, and I didn't have to ask for anything! However, I feel like I've been a klutz thus far. I fail at using the paper cutter, and I often drop things when I get distracted by the kids' conversations. :P The hardest thing this week was grading quizzes on "The Highwayman." It's a poem that I haven't read, and like Chelsea said, there isn't just one answer they could've put. It was difficult because we had a substitute that day, and she hadn't read the poem before, either. This week I've learned that, from organizing Mrs. Richardson's assignments, you have to keep up with stuff. It's a challenge when students don't write their full name or class period on their work.

I enjoy spending first period with my younger sister. At first, I figured it'd be awkward, but it's really not! Her friends love me and give me hugs when they walk in. It's cool that I get to hear from her later what they think about me, which will come in handy when I teach my lesson. :)

I'm looking forward to this week, and it's looking like middle school is definitely the level for me!

Have a good week, fellow Cadets!

I LOVED my first week experience! The kids are so happy to see me when I walk in, and so sad to see me leave. Each of them have their own personalities. The girls are all little teachers, the boys are just boys (all about sports and running away from the girls), and you can tell who's parents are really involved. Miss. McKee is putting me to work already with helping the kids. Which I'm enjoying!
But! Dressing up everyday stinks.

My best experience this week was when it was the end of my very first day and as I was walking out the door, one of my students ran up to me and gave me the BIGGEST hug. It made me feel excited and wanted there. As far as a bad experience goes, i really can't say i have one! it was such a great week:)

My best experience this week was that Mr. Ballenger made me my own desk! It's complete with hole puncher, sharpies, stapler, etc at the front of the room. It made me feel like a real teacher. My worst for this week is that I haven't gotten to do much yet. It's mainly been quizzes and project days Hopefully I'll get more involved this upcoming week.

The highlight of my week was on Friday when I taught my Spanish 4 Honors class a song. The song was Ojos Que No Ven. I made a worksheet with blanks in it, and as we listened to the song they filled in the blanks. After that, i went through the entire song and explained what the meaning of it part by part. It was funny because some of the lines were riskay. HA. After all of that, we sang the song twice and tried to sing in spanish as fast as Alexis y Fido do. My worst experience this week was my first day because I was just sitting there listening and not being very involved in the class. I was nervous and didnt say much, but now I have fun speaking Spanish and learning things myself.

This week turned out to be better than I expected. I really love going to 1st grade and helping out. I never have a blah moment with these kids. They are funnier than the comedians at comedy central. I love Mrs. Quinn she is sweet and easy to work with. I'm so glad I choose to work with her! I LOVE IT!!

Sorry Mrs. T!!! My field experience has been amazing so far! Mrs. Pea is such a great teacher and the kids are really cute. :) Having one on one interaction with the students is probably what i enjoyed most. One kid, Nathan, has a lot of trouble counting money. Knowing that I can help him is such a great feeling. My experience so far has been great, but the one down side is that Mrs. Pea already has a student teacher. It's nice seeing how Mrs. Flinn interacts with the students and then comparing that to what Mrs. Pea does, but sometimes I feel that I won't get to do as much as I liked.

My best experience was seeing how the students interacted with the teacher. You can almost feel the flow of energy in the class from the teacher to the students. My worst experience was the tornado drill. It just took time out of class to sit in the hall:) Hopefully next week will be tornado drill free.

This week has been awesome! I really enjoyed Wednesday St. Patty's day because that was when we got to teach the kids how to make a raindow with all of the colors with their hands. Shay read them a book and they really enjoyed it. Also I thought it was really sweet that Mrs. Quinn let her students sign her cast. I even got to sign it! I was so excited about that.On Friday when Shay and I were leaving it really made my day when all of my friends didn't want us to leave!! That really made my day. I love all of them so much. I never want to leave that class. Which a loving enivorment I LOVE IT!!

The first week was really fun. Learning the kids names is kida hard but I'm starting to learn. I agree with Chelsea the tornado drill was pretty annoying. I wish we could have gone on Wednesday but we had that two hour delay so that was sad.

Where do I begin? I have had the most amazing memories in Ms. Quinn's class. I am just so lucky that Turner placed me with her. I love of the kids and helping them read enough book for the pizza party! I'm so glad I have Coach Rhodes for my second period cuz I have been late every single day cuz I just wanted to stay with the kids and chill with Ms. Quinn.
