Mauldin High Teacher Cadets said...

Monday
On Monday Mrs. Turner started out class by talking to us about some news about the Hillcrest Cadets. Their schedule got changed so they no longer meet on Fridays, so they will not be able to join us on the field trip to Anderson University on October 26th. She next talked to us about our pen pals from Sue Cleveland, and how she sent a very strong letter to their principal about how she hasn't heard anything from the teachers of our pen pals and how they haven't written and they have had over 2 weeks. If our pen pals don't write us soon, or we don't hear from them, we will have to find a new service project. After that we heard Angela read about what we did the week before. Then we discussed places we could go for our observing of special education classes. We could either go to Mauldin Elementary, Bethel Elementary or Mauldin Middle. Mrs. Turner then passed around a sheet to sign up for the Barrier Books which we will work on while Mrs. Turner will be gone, and on that sheet we would mark which school we would want to go to. The rest of the class we discussed the book we read over the weekend, The Acorn People. Then we were assigned to make an acorn necklace, like they did in the book, but on each of our 5 acorns on one side we wrote the name of one of the 5 campers, and on the back we described them, how the shined in the book, and drew a picture of them.

Tuesday
On Tuesday we started class by finishing the acorn necklaces from Monday. Then Mrs. Turner started to tell us which school and when we would be going to watch a Special Education class. I was to go Mauldin Elementary with CJ on Friday. We were told that when we get back from the school we are assigned to, we needed to take off the visitor sticker and put it by our name with the time which we got back. Then we talked about Amanda H, and how we may go visit her at home while she is on homebound to cheer her up. Next we talked about the barrier books and we saw an example on how the book should look when it opens. Since Mrs. Turner was going to be at the beach for a teacher conference for the rest of the week, she told us we could keep in contact with her by using the blog on the teacher cadet website. She also told us while she was gone we were to work on our books and to be nice to Mrs. Brooks. With some extra time at the end of class, Mrs. Turner finished up by showing Nicole and Daniel how to dance to Soljia boy.

Wednesday
Mrs. Turner was at the beach for a teacher conference, and Mrs. Brooks was our sub. We were assigned to either work on our books, or we were observing the special education classes.

Thursday
Again Mrs. Turner was out, and Mrs. Brooks assigned us to work on our books, or we went to the appropriate place to watch the special education classes.

Friday
Finally Friday and once again Mrs. Brooks was our sub, and we again either worked on our books or observe a special education class. I went to watch a class at Mauldin Elementary, and learned a lot and was very intrigued on how the class worked.
