Today in Teacher Cadets, we finished our quilt square and wrote our belief on them then we worked together as a team to attach the quilt together. As we worked together Mrs. Turner danced to “The Dance of the Cucumber” from Veggie-tales and just made us laugh. That’s really what Mrs. Turner is best at. After we finished putting together the quilt we hung it up on the wall, and then we watched more Silly Songs with Larry. After Veggie-tales Mrs. Turner passed out orange card stock to us and we had to make a square that was divided into 9 parts. In the center we wrote our name. In the following squares we wrote one or two words that explained us as a family member, a student at Mauldin, our gender, our religion, our ethnicity, whether we were going to be a future teacher, any sports or hobbies, and ourselves as a complete person. To me the hardest part was the complete person. I couldn’t really describe myself in a complete way, it seemed so final. Then, while I was drawing a blank, Amanda reminded me of a song we sing at our Collision Weekend at our church. It really just reminded me of what I wish I was and what I hope to be. That to me explains me as a complete person, so thanks Amanda.

In Teacher Cadets today we talked about the professor from Anderson University coming to talk to us and Mrs. Turner reminded us that we were to be at school at 8:00. After that one side of the room, my side, drew names of the other side of the room in order to pick a person to interview for our scrapbook. We basically had to get to know the other person and find out their hobbies, family, favorites, etc. This was done in order to be able to take a page from their scrapbook and make one about them, or rather about what you thought of them. I thought this was a neat idea because I got to interview Kasie Granner. I have probably known her since freshman year but I didn’t know her know her which was nice to find out some things about her I didn’t know. It was also interesting to hear what the other person asked you because it showed what they were interested in. We did this for the rest of the class period and then we packed up and got ready to go, and were told to bring our scrapbooks tomorrow.

Today in Teacher Cadets we got to have a full blown work day. We got to work on our scrapbook pages for our own book and for each other’s book. Today was fun because I sat at a different desk than I usually do and got to hang out with new people who I knew but don’t usually sit with, aka Daniel and Kasey P. I watched Amanda P. make a beautiful page for C.J. and I finished most of my pages. When several people finished they went out in the hall to help Mrs. Turner with some posters for the pep rally because Mrs. Turner is one of the spirit week advisors. That’s why I love Mrs. Turner. She can never get enough of us. We were again reminded to come to class Friday at 8:00 because Mrs. Turner really doesn’t want to give up another work day to the professor. It was great getting to know new people and chatting with people about their scrapbooks. I think everyone enjoyed themselves, even in regards to the tragedy that happened the night before.

Today in Teach Cadets we had another scrapbook workday however I was not present for this class period. Mrs. Ward, my yearbook advisor, asked me to come work picture day for her during freshman day. I learned that we also worked on banners for the pep rally we were suppose to have on Friday but did not. I can’t really say a lot about today other than freshman are a tad frustrating, when they don’t know where to go for picture day.

To start of today’s blog I would just like to go ahead and mention that today was my birthday. I turned seventeen today. I feel so cool. Anyways we had to show up at school today at 8 o’clock in order to get there in time to listen to all of what Prof. Kimbell had to tell us about the syllabus. It wasn’t so bad once we got there though because Mrs. Turner offered us doughnuts (donuts?) and juice. It was very delicious. Now on to Prof. Kimbell. Well to put it lightly he was everything Mrs. Turner described him to be. Wonderfully nice…. One thing that bothered me was that he said, “be pacific,” instead of specific. That kind of thing really bugs me. Anyways other than that I though he basically just read the syllabus to us. It was entertaining to look over at Mrs. Turner every once in a while to see her expressions. Friday, as a whole though, was not very interesting, just merely informative.
