Log Presentation for November 20-21 and November 27 - December 1
Monday, November 20 Today, we worked on our preschool projects. I made a poster to advertise for our preschool in Rwanda, An Offering of Hope.
Tuesday, November 21 We worked on projects again today in class. This time I helped Christina build the model of our building—I got to color with crayons!
Monday, November 27 Today, we began presentations of our preschool projects. We learned about a school funded by Michael Jackson and a preschool run by members of the military.
Tuesday, November 28 Mrs. Brett Vaughn came today to visit with us. We did a 3-2-1 activity about Teacher Cadets, scholarships, and college. We learned that we all enjoy Teacher Cadets, but some of us have mixed feelings about college. Mrs. Vaughn told us about scholarship opportunities and read us the book Paper Airplane. This illustrated the importance of thinking creatively and not being afraid to introduce new ideas.
Wednesday, November 29 We discussed our plans for upcoming elementary school observations and new contract hour ideas. We continued presentations with Munchkin Mansion, JAE Academy, Little Tiger Preschool, and An Offering of Hope. I loved the creativity with an arts school and a missionary school.
Thursday, November 30 We discussed the book The Hurried Child. We learned how much the busy schedule of adults can impact children’s lives and how activities kids take part in can add to stress later in life. We got in a heated discussion about whether playing competitive sports really caused physical problems. We wrapped up class with final issues about observations.
Friday, December 1 Today, we worked in groups to develop a list of 10-15 helpful tips for elementary school parents. We assigned teachers for each person to e-mail over the weekend. This was a pretty relaxing day—I love days like that!
In addition to all of these activities, each day we read a rule from Ron Clark’s The Essential 55. I really enjoyed these!
My favorite part of the week was the book Paper Airplane. Hopefully, I will be able to use it when I become a teacher!
